Sometimes Lil’ one, I worry that I’m not what you and your mother deserve. Other times I know it.
I hope you’ll find me to be a good dad, a good father. I’m looking forward to all the experiences we’ll share both as a family and just you and myself.
We saw you in 3-D over the weekend. You are gorgeous. I think you have your mom’s lips and cheeks.
But I saw something else too: this sly little smirk that suggested maybe you know something the rest of us don’t know.
Judging by that grin, I imagine you’re going to be a handful.
I can’t wait to see that smile again…this time while we’re holding you.
I promise you I’ll be a good dad. And that we’ll have plenty of good times as you grow and become your own person. Just never lose that smirk.
Our hearts are yours and you are our everything.

Let’s see… the anniversary was great, mostly because a year ago it was just us, and this year Lil’ Geek is in mom’s belly getting ready to join the world.
This weekend Mrs. Fitness Geek threw a surprise 30th birthday party for me that was awesome. She did a great job hiding it, and also had quite the guest list that included one friend I hadn’t seen in three years because he lived so far away.
It was of course a baseball theme with all the ballpark foods: hot dogs, chips, nachos, etc. and a very cool cake:

There was also a pinata because pinatas are cool.
I think I killed it:

Mrs. Fitness Geek can throw a party!
Today we had our 29 week 1 day visit. The doctor had a few concerns about fluid level, so Lil’ Geek’s mom is now chugging water every minute of the day.
The good news though… Lil’ Geek is the cutest girl ever:

Look at that cute foot.
And:

Playing with her feet!
I got in six miles today at a great pace: under nine minutes a mile with the last mile at 8:02. Very happy. Saturday I’ve my long run of 16 miles planned. If I can get that in, I should still be good for the ultra in November.

Today marks three great and wonderful and blessed years of marriage. I was lucky that I married the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met and my best friend.
Sure, Mrs. Fitness Geek prefers romantic comedies to my more awesome movies. And she doesn’t eat meat despite its wonderful taste. But we make it work. She’s gorgeous, funny, sweet and she loves baseball. I know how lucky I am. I just hope she realizes how much I love her.
Happy anniversary beautiful. Thank you for making me the happiest man in the world.
